This position is responsible for assisting the classroom teacher with the delivery of class instruction and classroom management.
Anticipated Start Date: August 2025
Starting Pay Rate: $15 per hour
Responsibilities
Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
Classroom Management
- Assisting with maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
- Preparing instructional materials and collecting materials needed by the teacher in presenting a unit of work.
- Assisting in arranging the learning environment, including assembling and putting materials on bulletin boards and in keeping such displays current.
- Assembling, adjusting, and maintaining equipment used in the instructional program.
- Operating multimedia equipment. This duty would include preparing the room for the activity, obtaining the required material and equipment, the operation of the equipment, and the return of all materials and equipment to storage.
- Assisting in administering and scoring of appropriate assessments designed to measure and observe learner progress (should not determine the overall grade).
- Assisting within constraints of any specific program regulations, in the supervision of learners during non-instructional times in the day such as during the lunch period, during the time when learners are entering or leaving buses, or while otherwise on school premises, including duty before school, during school and during intermission periods.
Delivery of Instructional Material
- Working with individual learners or small groups on activities which have been assigned by the teacher.
- Delivering instructional materials in the absence of the teacher.
- Communicating accurate knowledge of subject matter in a comprehensible manner using language and style appropriate to the learner.
Communication
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative and professional relationships with other employees.
- Assisting the teacher with establishing and maintaining open lines of communication with learners and their parents concerning academic and behavioral progress of assigned learners.
Other Professional Responsibilities
- Completing recordkeeping tasks assigned by the teacher, such as lunch reports, attendance, recording grades, and report cards.
- Assisting the teacher with taking necessary and reasonable precautions to protect learners, materials, equipment and facilities.
- Assisting the teacher with ensuring that each learner in the program has the necessary records in his/her permanent record and/or portfolio.
- Performing other responsibilities, as directed.

Qualifications
- All Instructional and Non-instructional employees must be fingerprinted and cleared per Florida statute 1012.465 and 1012.56.
- High School Diploma.
- Associate’s Degree, OR 60 hours of college/university level coursework, OR 3 years of Instructional Assistant experience, OR demonstrated proficiency on district assessment.
