Position Summary and Why This Roles Matters

The Associate Financial Planner works closely with our lead planner in delivering retirement planning, investment management, and tax guidance in a fee‐only, fiduciary model. The position is structured to develop you into a Financial Planner in 3 years or less.

Retirement planning is about more than numbers—it’s helping individuals design a life that feels meaningful and purpose‐driven, beyond just financial security. You’ll play a key role in helping clients make that a reality.

Responsibilities

  • Client Engagement & Onboarding
    • Prepare meeting agendas, analyze current investments, propose model portfolios, and create initial retirement projections for discovery meetings with prospective clients.
    • Participate with lead planner in discovery and onboarding meetings with new clients.
  • Retirement Planning & Strategy
    • Create and update clients’ retirement planning projections in financial planning software.
    • Analyze and compare different combinations of Social Security claiming, investment withdrawal, asset tax location, and partial Roth conversion strategies in planning software.
  • Client Communication & Service
    • Promptly respond to client service requests.
    • Use analogies and plain language over jargon to explain complex concepts.
    • Proactively communicate with clients to implement the client service calendar.
    • Collaborate with lead planner in client review meetings and meeting follow up.
  • Practice Support & Team Collaboration
    • Assist with trading and rebalancing client investment portfolios.
    • Coordinate planning implementation with outside professionals.
    • Assist with year-end tax processes including RMDs, Roth conversions, tax letters, etc.
    • Coordinate with operations and compliance to ensure seamless client experiences and adherence to regulatory rules and compliance policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Finance, Economics, or related preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience providing financial planning and investment support for clients required.
  • CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) and Series 63/66 preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Excel required.
  • Experience with CRM (Wealthbox), financial planning (RightCapital), portfolio management and reporting (Orion), tax (Holistiplan) and portfolio analysis (Riskalyze/Nitrogen) a plus.
  • Retirement Income Certified Professional® (RICP®) a plus.

  • Competitive Compensation: Base salary from $75,000 to $95,000 depending on education and experience, plus annual bonus target of 10% of salary, referral compensation program, 401(k) match, and generous paid vacation policy.
