Controls Technician
San Leandro, CA 94577
- Role is a 6-month assignment
- Shift: 1st shift 7 am - 3:30pm | Monday through Friday | Must be open to weekend work, overtime, and to a flexible scheduled when needed
- Candidates will interview onsite with Maintenance Manager
- ** Candidate must be eligible to be employed for an unlimited duration without limitations

JOB SUMMARY:
- The Control Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing industrial control systems and automation equipment. This role ensures reliable operation of PLCs, instrumentation, sensors, and control networks to support a safe and efficient production process
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install, configure, and maintain PLC, HMI and SCADA systems
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, instrumentation, and control systems
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on control equipment
- Calibrate and maintain field instruments (pressure, flow, temperature, level)
- Analyze systems faults and implement corrective actions
- Support continuous improvement and automation projects
- Read and Interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, and control schematics
- Work with maintenance and operations team to minimize downtime
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations (e.g. OSHA)
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance and systems changes

- Rockwell Automation (Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000)

- HMI / SCADA Platforms
- Ignition SCADA (Inductive Automation) - visualization, alarming, reporting and database integration
- Factory Talk View / Factory Talk SE & ME
- Industrial Networking & Communication
- Ethernet/IP, Modbus (RTU/TCP), Profibus, Profinet
- Network troubleshooting tools (wireshark, RSLinx)
- FIIX CMMS PM or similar platforms
- Drives & Motion Software
- Data & Diagnosis Tools
- Ignition Tag Historian and report modules
- Trend and diagnostics tools for process analysis
Additional Tools:
- Calibration software and handheld communicators (HART, Field Communicator)
- Laptop-based diagnostic and programming tools
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, or related field is nice to have. Manager will look at candidates with additional work experience in liu of degree
- At least 5+ years of experience working with industrial control systems
Strong knowledge of the following:
- PLCs (Allen-Bradley)
- Motor control systems and VFDs
- Industrial networks (ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus)
- Ability to trouble shoot electrical and instrumentation systems
- Familiarity with safety practices such as LOTO and arc flash is nice to have. Candidate will be trained on both.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in manufacturing environments (food & beverage, dairy, or processing plants)
- Strong experience with SCADA platform (development, troubleshooting, and upgrades)
- Understanding of process control loops and PID tuning.
- Ability to work with CMMS systems
