Salary Range: $65,000–$85,000 (commensurate with experience)
Full-time, Non-Exempt
Reports to: Operations Manager


Are you a detail-oriented numbers person who thrives on organization, accuracy, and keeping financial operations running smoothly? Grossman Young & Hammond, a nationally recognized immigration, INTERPOL defense, and international human rights law firm, is seeking a Billing and Finance Administrator to support our day-to-day financial processes and ensure consistent, reliable book keeping, accounting, and billing operations.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys structure, problem-solving, and working behind the scenes to support a high-performing legal team. You will play a critical administrative role in maintaining billing/invoicing accuracy, supporting financial workflows and reports, and collaborating with attorneys and staff to keep systems efficient and compliant.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process client invoices and billing adjustments on an ongoing basis
  • Track collections and follow up on outstanding balances
  • Assist with trust accounting and financial recordkeeping
  • Perform account reconciliations and expense tracking
  • Maintain accurate billing and financial data in firm systems
  • Support monthly reporting and bookkeeping tasks
  • Coordinate with attorneys, staff, and vendors on billing matters
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial procedures
  • Assist with administrative finance projects as assigned


What You Bring

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Comfort working with numbers and financial records
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel
  • Experience with legal billing software (FileVine or similar preferred)
  • Clear communication and follow-through
  • Professional discretion with confidential information
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • A desire to improve and streamline existing financial systems

Preferred: Experience in a law firm or professional services setting


Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2–4 years of billing, bookkeeping, or financial administrative experience
  • Demonstrated reliability and accuracy in prior roles

Work Environment & Expectations

  • Hybrid role with one in-office day per week (Washington, DC)
  • 40 hours per week (eligible for overtime)
  • Occasional schedule flexibility during billing cycles
  • Requires careful handling of confidential financial information
  • Standard office environment with extended computer use
