Job DescriptionSalary: $2,000 per Month

Position Summary: Kid Power seeks passionate and motivated AmeriCorps Members to serve as part of our 20252026 cohort. Members will play vital roles in supporting high-quality youth programming, engaging volunteers and families, and strengthening organizational systems. Depending on skills and interests, members may focus on direct student engagement, volunteer coordination, or systems and program impactbut all members will contribute to Kid Powers mission of helping youth thrive academically, socially, and as leaders in their communities.

About Kid Power: At Kid Power, youth ignite their confidence and build the skills to thrive academically, strengthen their social-emotional wellness, and advocate for themselves and their communities.


Founded in 2002, Kid Power is a community-rooted nonprofit that empowers over 1,000 youth annually across Washington, DC. With an annual budget of $2.2 million, our evidence-based programs focus on academic confidence, social-emotional wellness, and civic leadership. We value collaboration, community-building, and youth voice in everything we do.


Schedule: This full-time service position requires 40 hours per week (generally MondayFriday, 10 AM 6 PM). To effectively engage with our community, evening and occasional weekend hours are essential. Service may take place at Kid Powers offices, partner schools, and community locations. This is a one-year commitment ending August 31, 2026.


Key Responsibilities

AmeriCorps Members will serve in one or more of the following areas


Youth Program Support

  • Support afterschool and in-school programming through tutoring, mentoring, and enrichment activities.
  • Assist with behavior management to maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Help plan and lead family engagement events and student leadership activities.
  • Capture and share mission moments and student highlights to celebrate progress.


Volunteer & Community Engagement

  • Recruit, screen, and support volunteers for Kid Power programs.
  • Represent Kid Power at community events to build partnerships and recruit participants.
  • Host intake sessions and provide consistent communication with program participants.
  • Collaborate with the Development team to highlight program stories on social media.


Program Impact & Systems Building

  • Assist in developing systems for program evaluation and grant compliance.
  • Support data collection, entry, and reporting to track program outcomes.
  • Help refine organizational processes to improve program quality and efficiency.
  • Research youth development trends and contribute to strategic planning efforts.


Skills and Qualifications

  • Passionate about youth development and community building
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Organized, self-motivated, and solution-oriented
  • Ability to work flexible hours (after-school, evenings, and weekends)
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and/or Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to undergo required background clearances
  • Access to reliable transportation

Preferred

  • 2-year degree OR comparable work/volunteer experience
  • Proficiency in Spanish
  • Familiarity with DC communities
  • Experience supervising interns, volunteers, or youth leaders
