Associate Director of Education & Training
Job Description
The Associate Director of Education & Training reports to the VP of Workforce Development. This position is responsible for analyzing, developing and designing education & training products to meet the needs of the glass & glazing industry.
The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking team leader who has a strong background in instructional design and adult learning best practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Product Strategy and Development:
Research & Analysis
- Assist VP of Workforce Development to survey stakeholders--NGA member companies, subject matter experts (SMEs), administrators and others--to identify new education and training needs and preferred content and delivery formats. To include surveys, focus groups, needs assessments, etc.
- Analyze existing NGA products to determine what needs updating or replacing and work with SMEs to understand content requirements and learning outcomes.
- Research and analyze existing competing products in the marketplace to help inform product strategy.
- Gather feedback; organize information; provide reports on above.
Product Design & Development:
Instructional Design
- Develop e-learning courses, to include writing scripts, course design in Articulate, SME review
- Design curriculum plans, to include target audience(s), learning objectives and instructional materials
Management
- Supervise Sr. Instructional Designer to meet course development quality and deadline expectations
- Manage subject matter experts for content development
- Manage outside contractors engaged with course and/or curriculum development
Quality Standards
- Set quality standards for ID based on adult learning best practices
- Review final products to ensure they meet quality standards
- Stay informed about emerging trends and technologies in instructional design and adult learning. Share insights and best practices to drive innovation
General:
- Budget Management: Participate in annual department budget creation; track monthly expenses related to education & training products
- Representation: Represent the organization at conferences and appropriate events to support the development and/or promotion of NGA’s education & training products.
Professional Experience/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of content development and instructional design experience
- Expert knowledge of Articulate 360 suite, including Storyline, Rise, and Review
- Exceptional job/task analysis, design and writing skills
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems
- Strong team management skills
- Project management experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft office suite
- Highly organized, with exceptional communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Prior association or trades experience preferred
