Senior Estimator – Capital Equipment: Automation, Assembly, Test, VO, Powertrain, Automotive OEM & Tier-1 Segment

· We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our Team and contribute to developing comprehensive cost estimates that support our increasing growing backlog.

Position Overview:

As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for large-scale automotive manufacturing projects revolving around Assembly Lines and Stations, Precision Gauging, Balancing, and End of Line Test. The ideal candidate will bring at least 6-10 years of experience in estimating in our relevant fields (if you have more, don’t let that stop you), strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, and the ability to collaborate closely with Engineering, Sales, Procurement, and Project Management Teams.

Your role is critical in ensuring accurate pricing, profitability, and competitiveness of our proposals while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and precision.

You are to be an excellent Communicator with Common Sense.

Your Day:

Develop, analyze, and prepare detailed cost estimates for automotive capital equipment projects, including material, labor, tooling, subcontracting, and overhead costs.
Review technical drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to identify cost drivers and potential risks.
Collaborate with Engineering, Shop, and Customers to clarify scope and align estimating assumptions.
Obtain and Evaluate Supplier and Subcontractor Quotations to ensure Accuracy and Competitiveness.
Prepare complete Proposal Packages, including Cost Breakdowns, Schedules, and Supporting Documentation.
Support Negotiations with Customers by providing cost justifications and value engineering options.
Maintain and Update Cost Database, Historical Pricing, and Estimating Tools.
Collaborate with key departments and support continuous improvement in estimating processes.
Working knowledge of 2D/3D Design Software used to view Stations and Plant Layouts.
Ability to read/understand technical scopes of work.
Periodically travel to Customer Sites for project walk-through, Clarification Meetings, and Proposal Reviews.

Qualifications:

Experience: Minimum of 6-10 years in Estimating within the Automotive Manufacturing Capital Equipment Industry.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of Manufacturing Processes, Industrial Controls, Fabrication, Tooling, and Production Systems.
Software Skills: Proficiency in Estimating and ERP software; advanced MS Excel Skills.
Analytical Ability: Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze Complex Data and develop Accurate, Competitive Cost Models.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal Communication Skills; ability to present estimates to Team Members and Customers.
