Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Payroll Tax Business Analyst to support accurate payroll taxation and compliance for U.S.-based employees and expatriates. This role involves collaboration with third-party payroll providers and internal stakeholders to manage payroll tax activities, ensure regulatory compliance, and lead process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of payroll systems, particularly PeopleSoft, and a solid background in multi-state payroll tax withholding and reconciliation.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with third-party payroll vendors to manage payroll tax compliance for domestic and expatriate populations.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional projects involving payroll systems, tax processes, and vendor coordination.
- Prepare and post general ledger entries and complete payroll account reconciliations including benefits and accruals.
- Request, test, and approve setup or changes to payroll tax configurations in PeopleSoft.
- Address and resolve payroll tax issues efficiently, including year-end processing and W-2 preparation.
- File and manage requests for new tax IDs, tax rate adjustments, and unemployment insurance.
- Act as an internal consultant providing expertise on payroll processes and compliance issues.
- Analyze data to identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions.
- Maintain and manage service level agreements (SLAs) with internal and external partners.
- Collaborate with corporate tax, HR, legal, and mobility teams to resolve payroll-related inquiries.
- Ensure proper documentation, communication, and reporting related to payroll tax issues.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in payroll or payroll tax-related functions.
- At least 3 years of experience with payroll tax withholding and filing across multiple states.
- 2+ years of experience working with payroll in a PeopleSoft environment, including ability to write queries.
- Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, formulas, and lookups.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proven ability to work independently while keeping leadership informed.

- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Experience working with expatriate payroll and global mobility teams.
- Familiarity with third-party payroll vendors and tax service providers.
