Job Description
Position Summary:The Equipment Operator I is responsible for the safe, efficient, and consistent operation of basic automated assembly machines. This role focuses on producing high-quality medical devices by performing routine machine operations, monitoring performance, responding to faults, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. This entry-level position plays a vital role in supporting production goals in a cleanroom manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate simple automated equipment and machinery used in the assembly of medical devices
  • Start up equipment from a powered-off state and set up work orders in electronic systems
  • Monitor and respond to basic machine faults, align simple fixtures, and ensure continued operation
  • Read and interpret gauges, dials, and machine indicators to assess equipment performance
  • Complete documentation, including production records, work orders, and inspection checklists
  • Perform visual and/or manual inspections to ensure product quality and consistency
  • Weigh, count, package, and label finished products in accordance with specifications
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with 5S and safety standards
  • Operate multiple simple machines requiring minimal supervision and low operator attentiveness
  • Follow written procedures and SOPs with high accuracy


Types of Simple Machines May Include:

  • Press and torque fitment stations
  • Machines with fewer than 10 assembly stations
  • Equipment requiring minimal station/fixture alignment

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma, GED, or successful completion of an employment assessment
  • Experience: Entry-level; previous manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred

Technical Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word preferred
  • Ability to read and understand production procedures and safety guidelines

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during shift
  • Ability to repetitively lift, move, and carry up to 20 lbs
  • Comfortable working in a cleanroom environment
  • Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks and visual inspections, with or without magnification tools
  • Exposure to solvents, glues, or solder (with appropriate PPE and ventilation)
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written)
