Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Purchasing Specialist to join our fabric wholesale team. This role is responsible for efficiently and cost-effectively sourcing all fabric materials, supplies, and services. The ideal candidate will have industry experience in textiles and a strong ability to manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and monitor inventory levels.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with new and existing fabric vendors and suppliers. Good communication with vendors is essential.
- Create, process, and track purchase orders to ensure accuracy and compliance with company standards and policies.
- Monitor inventory levels, forecast future demand, and coordinate purchases to avoid material shortages.
- Assist the sales and production teams with timely updates on inventory levels and restock schedules.
- Collaborate with the quality control team to ensure that purchased fabrics meet the required quality standards.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and better supplier performance through market analysis and effective negotiation.
- Address and resolve problems related to orders, invoices, quality, and shipping delays.
- Keep detailed purchasing records, reports, and documentation.
- Stay updated on material availability and price changes in the fabric industry.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role.
- Previous experience in the textile industry is a significant advantage.
- Proven negotiation and vendor management skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. Proficiency in Acumatica is a plus.
- Familiarity with inventory management or ERP systems is a plus.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
