Cardiac Neuro Stepdown RN – Nights | Deaconess Midtown

Location: Deaconess Midtown – Indiana
Shift: 12 Hour Nights | 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
Start Date: 4/20 or 5/4
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hrs/week

Job Overview

Seeking an experienced Stepdown RN for a high-acuity Cardiac/Neuro blended unit caring for post-procedure cardiac, neuro, and medical stepdown patients. Ideal candidate will have strong telemetry, cardiac drip, and neuro assessment experience.

Patient Population

• Post Heart Cath / Stents / Cardiac Interventions
• Pacemakers / ICD / Ablations
• STEMI / NSTEMI
• Carotid Endarterectomy
• Sepsis
• CVA / Stroke
• Seizures / Possible TBI
• DKA

Required Skills

• Telemetry / 12-Lead EKG Interpretation
• Must Pass Tele Test
• Post Heart Cath Care (Fem/TR Bands)
• Initiate/Titrate Drips:
  • Cardizem
  • Amiodarone
  • Cardene
  • Nitro
  • Insulin
  • Heparin
• NIHSS / Strong Neuro Assessments
• Sepsis Care
• Chest Tubes
• PIV Insertion

Requirements

• Active Compact RN License
• AHA BLS Required
• AHA ACLS Required
• NIHSS Required
• Minimum:
  • 2 Years Solid Stepdown + 1 Travel Contract
    OR
  • 5 Years Solid Stepdown (No Travel OK)
• Recent Epic Systems Experience Required

Unit Details

• 19 Beds Total
• 8 Stepdown Beds / 11 Med Surg Tele Beds
• Ratios:
  • Days: 1:5–6
  • Nights Stepdown: 1:4
• Charge Nurse Takes Patients
• May take Med Surg Tele patients up to 1:7 on nights

Float Requirements

Traveler floats first within skillset and may float to:

• Deaconess Newburgh (8 miles)
• Deaconess Henderson (11 miles)

Weekend / Holiday

• 3 Weekends Every 6 Weeks
• Every Other Holiday

• NO LOCAL CANDIDATES – 40 Mile Radius Rule
• 3 Call-Ins May Result in Termination
• Teaching Hospital – May Precept Students/New Hires
• Navy Blue Scrubs Required
• No Competing Logos on Scrubs
