Job DescriptionThis position works directly with BrightPath Behavior’s clients on their individualized Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy programs. You will be responsible for building and maintaining rapport, keeping up to date on programming goals, and implementing appropriate changes when directed by the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) for each client. Our services may include early intervention in-home, in our treatment centers, and in community settings for young children. The Behavior Technician’s performance will be reviewed annually by their direct supervisor.ResponsibilitiesProvide direct Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy to clients/patients; assist and support Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) in implementing behavioral interventions identified in client treatment plans, to reduce and respond to problem behaviors, and to teach skills that strengthen appropriate functional behaviors in their place
- Provide direct one-to-one interventions with clients/patients and families as directed in the treatment plans; these interventions may include but are not limited to implementing schedules and motivational systems to decrease problem behaviors and increase other desired behaviors such as language and communication, social skills, pre-academic skills, play skills, self-help skills, toileting skills
- Collect data pre- and post-treatment to determine the effectiveness of the interventions in place, either manually or electronically, and submit data to BCBAs and supervisors to review; notify Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) when criteria is met on specific skills
- Ensure that all data entered correctly for session
- Ensure timely submission and completion of all paperwork required and keep accurate records for sessions, including data and trial counts, treatment notes, schedules, and timesheets; notes should be quantitative in nature, with correct start and end times of session reflected and confirmed by the behavior technician
- Communicate effectively with team members and staff about client treatment plans
- Accept feedback and be willing and able to implement new or modified interventions and procedures as indicated by BCBAs or supervisors while working with clients
- Maintain confidentiality regarding clients’ and families’ personal and protected health information, avoid disclosing any potentially identifying information without written permission from caregivers and approval from BCBAs
- Immediately notify a direct supervisor or other member of leadership regarding any suspected instances of child abuse or imminent danger to self or others
- Communicate effectively with parents/caregivers and other behavior technicians/leads/BCBAs/Clinic Directors on issues, concerns, and progress
- Arrive at scheduled sessions on-time and with all necessary materials needed for work; adequately notify the scheduling coordinator of any lateness or absences, and attempt to reschedule make up sessions, as applicable
- Request the need for time off with scheduling coordinator at least two weeks in advance, or as defined by established policy and protocols
- Maintain supervision logs, when appropriate
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of applied behavior analysis (ABA) procedures
- Complete all requirements to obtain the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) within ninety (90) days of hire or provide proof of completion; once certified, take all necessary steps to maintain certification and notify a direct supervisor or member to the clinic leadership team if there are any changes to certification status
- Assist with organizing and creating client/patient materials and stimuli, as assigned
- Work in a professional manner with clients, families, and staff; support a safe, positive, and welcoming environment
- Other job duties or responsibilities, as assigned
Additional Duties:
- Keep work area clean and disinfected (e.g., keep materials put away when not in use, etc.); clean area after therapy session
- Participate in general house cleaning, as assigned
- Engage in ongoing staff training as required by BCBA
- Attend required meetings
Required SkillsRequired:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR certification
- RBT certification maintained
- Valid, current driver’s license & current car insurance on vehicle
Preferred:
- Working towards or has obtained a Degree in Behavioral Science or related field (such as; Psychology, Special Education, Elementary Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, Occupational/Physical/Speech Therapy or Counseling/Social Work)
