Overview
The Vice President of Manufacturing is responsible for leading all manufacturing operations across the organization, ensuring the successful execution of production, engineering, supply chain, and quality systems. This leader will oversee the full manufacturing process required to deliver high-quality vehicles on schedule while continuously improving processes, people, and systems.
This role requires a hands-on manufacturing leader who is comfortable on the shop floor conducting Gemba walks, developing leaders, solving operational challenges in real time, and building scalable processes that support low-volume, high-quality manufacturing. The VP of Manufacturing will play a critical role in ensuring on-time delivery to customer promise dates while minimizing warranty rates and quality escapes.
The Vice President of Manufacturing will lead multiple functional teams and directly manage the Director of Production, Director of Supply Chain, and Director of Engineering.

Duties and Responsibilities
Manufacturing Leadership
- Lead all manufacturing functions including powder coating, metal fabrication, paint and body, mechanical assembly, interior and upholstery, quality, and process engineering.
- Establish and execute the manufacturing strategy required to scale production while maintaining exceptional craftsmanship and quality standards.
- Drive accountability across manufacturing teams to meet customer promise dates and on-time delivery targets.
- Implement manufacturing performance metrics and dashboards to monitor production efficiency, quality, and throughput.
Production Excellence
- Ensure efficient execution of manufacturing processes across all production departments.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to increase throughput while maintaining craftsmanship and quality.
- Promote lean manufacturing principles, including Gemba walks, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Leadership & Team Development
- Build, mentor, and develop high-performing manufacturing leaders.
- Provide leadership and coaching to the Director of Production, Director of Supply Chain, and Director of Engineering.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence across the manufacturing organization.
- Develop leadership capabilities within the organization to support long-term growth.
Quality & Customer Commitment
- Own manufacturing quality outcomes, including reducing warranty rates and preventing defects.
- Implement systems and processes that ensure consistent quality across all production departments.
- Ensure every vehicle meets the companys quality and craftsmanship standards before delivery.
Supply Chain & Engineering Integration
- Ensure alignment between engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams.
- Improve material planning, supplier coordination, and inventory management to support production schedules.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration to support product development, manufacturability, and production readiness.
Process & Operational Improvement
- Lead development of manufacturing processes appropriate for low-volume production environments.
- Bridge the gap between structured operational practices from larger manufacturing organizations and the agility required for specialized manufacturing.
- Implement scalable systems and workflows that support operational growth while maintaining flexibility.
Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities
Required
- 10+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing or production operations
- Demonstrated success leading multi-department manufacturing operations
- Strong experience developing and mentoring operational leaders
- Hands-on leadership style with regular engagement on the production floor
- Experience driving on-time delivery, quality improvements, and operational performance
- Deep understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices
Preferred
- Experience in automotive manufacturing, specialty vehicle production, or restoration
- Experience operating in low-volume or custom manufacturing environments
- Background scaling operations within a growing manufacturing company
Physical Demands (To include but not limited to)
- Prolonged periods of standing or walking around the workspace.
- Frequently lifting heavy objects, such as tools, parts, or equipment, weighing up to 50-75 pounds.
- Regularly bending, stooping, or crouching to work on vehicles at different heights.
- Moving large or heavy equipment, carts, or vehicles within the shop.
- Frequent use of fingers and hands for typing, writing, and operating a computer.
- Using telephones, printers, copiers, and other office tools.
- Frequent need to focus on printed or digital material.
- Reviewing documents, schedules, or customer data with accuracy.
- Exposure to loud noises from power tools and machinery.
- Working in non-climate-controlled environments, leading to exposure to heat or cold.
- Potential exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals like solvents, oils, and paints. Proper PPE is often required.
- Analyzing and troubleshooting mechanical or structural issues.
- Frequent reaching above the shoulders or below the waist.
- Maintaining physical activity throughout the day without fatigue.
- Adherence to safety protocols to avoid injuries from sharp tools, heavy objects, or moving vehicles.
- Safely operate a motor vehicle.
