Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Visual Impairments, active Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification and 1+ years Teacher of the Visually Impaired experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Job Title: Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
Location: Virginia Beach / Norfolk, VA
Employment Type: Full-Time
We are currently hiring a certified Teacher of the Visually Impaired to join our team in the Virginia Beach and Norfolk area. This role is focused on supporting students with visual impairments by providing specialized instruction and ensuring access to the general curriculum across a variety of educational settings.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide individualized instruction to students with visual impairments in both inclusive and specialized environments

Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each students needs

Modify curriculum materials and utilize assistive technology to ensure content is accessible

Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to support student learning

Conduct assessments to evaluate functional vision and determine appropriate learning media

Maintain accurate records of student progress and services in accordance with state and district guidelines
Qualifications:

Masters degree in Education for the Visually Impaired

Valid Virginia Department of Education certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired

Proficiency in Braille and familiarity with a range of assistive technologies

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Experience working with students across multiple grade levels preferred
