The Mechanical department provides Mechanical Engineering expertise for all phases of product development, from design through production. Applies expertise in Mechanical Engineering in various aspects of the development of electronic components for aerospace applications. For Engineering, the Senior Mechanical Engineer provides this expertise to development and sustaining projects: addressing design of mechanical packaging for electronics, mechanical analysis, design and qualification testing, and creation of design and program documentation.
We're seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer III to support cutting-edge aerospace engineering projects with a focus on mechanical packaging of electronic components. This is a hands-on, senior-level role ideal for engineers who thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy seeing designs come to life.
What You'll Do:
- Design 3D/2D CAD models for aerospace components (SolidWorks)
- Perform structural and thermal FEA (preferably with ANSYS)
- Support mechanical design from concept to prototype to production
- Create and revise BOMs, drawings, and assembly documentation
- Execute engineering change orders and qualification testing
- Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, manufacturing, and quality teams
- Lead and participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and FMEAs
- Ensure compliance with aerospace standards and processes
Must-Haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- Minimum 6-8 years of professional engineering experience
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and FEA tools (ANSYS preferred)
- Background in mechanical packaging of electronics or aerospace hardware
- Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Nice-to-Haves:
- Familiarity with DO-160, DO-178, DO-254, or ARP standards
- Experience with risk management tools (dFMEA, pFMEA)
- Knowledge of aerospace materials and prototyping processes
- Leadership or mentoring experience
