Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and driven Sales Engineer to join our small sales team with a primary focus on the Northeast territory. This field-based role is ideal for a candidate with manufacturing or CNC machining knowledge who is looking to leverage strong interpersonal skills in a hunter/farmer sales position. The successful candidate will be responsible for new business development, account management, and upselling robotic cells and automatic doors for CNC machines through both the dealer network and direct end-user sales.
Responsibilities
- Develop new business opportunities through cold calling, lead follow-up, and in-person visits
- Manage and grow existing customer accounts, including regular visits and upselling opportunities
- Sell robotic cells and automatic doors for CNC machines
- Work closely with the dealer/distributor network while also closing direct sales to end customers
- Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with customers and dealers
- Attend trade shows and industry events
- Utilize lead generation tools such as Lead Forensics to identify and pursue opportunities
- Provide basic product information and communicate the value of automation solutions to customers
- Travel regularly within the assigned territory
Requirements
- Knowledge of CNC machining and the manufacturing industry (understanding of what a CNC machine is and how it operates)
- Prior sales experience in manufacturing or deep CNC machining experience with strong interpersonal skills and a desire to transition into sales
- Strong follow-up and customer service skills with a professional, cordial demeanor
- Self-motivated with the ability to hunt for new business and manage existing accounts
- Comfortable with cold calling, lead follow-up, and in-person customer visits
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the territory
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Preferred Requirements
- Some knowledge of robotics and robotic applications, particularly robot arms used in CNC automation
- Degree or trade school background in machining, manufacturing, or a related technical field
- Experience selling capital equipment or automation solutions
- Existing relationships in the Northeast manufacturing or CNC machining community
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $75,000 – $90,000
- Commission: $1,000 per robotic cell sold + $100 per automatic door sold
- Car allowance of $0.725 per mile (company car provided after initial period)
- Company credit card for meals and travel expenses
- Full benefits package including health insurance, 401(k) with match, vacation, and other standard benefits
- Laptop provided with robot programming software
Location & Travel
- Primary Territory: Northeast United States
- Work Setup: Fully remote / home-office based with significant field travel (primarily by car).
- Expected travel: Approximately 12 nights per month in hotels.
