Job Description\n
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Med/Surg Oncology position requiring an active IL RN license and at least one year of experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
- Work in the Oncology unit of an acute care, Magnet-designated, Level I trauma hospital
- Unit has 24 beds with an average daily census of 24 patients
- Day shift schedule with options for 4x12 or 3x12 hour shifts from 7:15 AM to 6:45 PM
- Every other weekend is required
- Floating within scope to meet unit needs may be required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Uses Cerner for charting
- Patient care involves chemotherapy administration and IV therapy
- Local candidates are accepted without a radius restriction
- Provide nursing care for oncology patients including administration and monitoring of chemotherapy and supportive therapies
- Team environment with support in a Magnet-recognized hospital
- First-time travelers are welcome
- No cost for parking permit; form completed during orientation
- Maximum requested time off ideally no more than 5 days
- Discuss block schedule requests directly with manager
- Scrubs in any solid color allowed
\n \n Requirements\n
- Active IL RN license in hand or in the application process
- Minimum of 1 year recent oncology nursing experience required
- Chemo certification preferred
- Proficiency in chemotherapy skills is required, including administration, post-chemotherapy fluid handling, infusion, IV push, cytotoxic spill management, and abnormal lab recognition
- Proficiency in IV therapy/infusion required, such as port access, central line/PICC line care, blood product administration, and starting IVs
