MK Magnetics (www.mkmagnetics.com) specializes in the production of custom and standard tape wound soft magnetic cores for transformers and inductors. All the cores we sell are manufactured on site in Adelanto, California, in a modern 75,000 sq. ft. facility specifically designed and built for manufacturing tape wound magnetic cores.

Position Overview:
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled Electrical Engineer with experience in softcore magnets, electromagnetic systems, or related fields to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will contribute to the design, development, testing, and optimization of electrical and magnetic components for a variety of applications, including power systems, industrial machinery, medical devices, and advanced research projects.

Responsibilities:
- Design and develop softcore magnetic components and systems for use in electrical and electromechanical applications
- Conduct research and analysis on electromagnetic properties, materials selection, and system integration
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including mechanical, manufacturing, purchasing, quality and customer service
- Develop simulation models for magnetic field analysis and performance testing
- Optimize efficiency, durability, and cost-effectiveness of electromagnetic designs
- Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure high-quality production and compliance with industry standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges related to softcore magnetic systems and related electrical components
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in softcore magnetics, electrical engineering, and emerging technologies
- Ensure all designs and developments comply with safety and regulatory standards
- Review of customer product specifications to determine manufacturability and aid the customer with technical assistance when needed
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of materials and manufacturing processes for parts and assemblies
- Conduct R&D and drive process development, improvement, and troubleshooting to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality
- Travel to customer sites and trade shows in the US and abroad when needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromagnetic Engineering, or a related field
- Three (3) years of experience working with softcore magnets, electromagnetic systems, or similar technologies
- Proficiency in electromagnetic simulation software (such as COMSOL, Ansys Maxwell, or similar)
- Strong understanding of magnetics, transformers, inductors, and power electronics
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes for electrical and magnetic components
- Knowledge of industry standards (such as IEEE, IEC, or UL) related to electromagnetic design
- Ability to conduct analysis and/or investigate parts not meeting specifications and attain resolutions
- Critical thinking, using logic and reasoning to recognize the strengths or weaknesses of a difficult or problematic set of circumstances
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills- able to identify root causes of symptomatic problems
- Understanding of the hazards and complexities of working with high voltage equipment
- Ability to write test, manufacturing, and process instructions, technical papers, as well as develop process sheets
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, orally and in writing is critical
- Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus
- Proven experience in managing end-to-end project documentation, from initiation through completion
- Hands-on experience with prototype development and laboratory testing is preferred
- Advanced knowledge of magnetic materials and their applications in electrical engineering preferred
- Ability to be organized and maintain a clean work environment
