Mental Health Counselor - Inpatient Program

Location: Dedham, MA

Full-Time Positions Available

Night Shift (11 PM - 7:30 AM)

Your Role as a Mental Health Counselor

As a Mental Health Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing direct care to our residents under the supervision of our clinical staff. Your work will contribute to a safe and therapeutic environment in our 24-hour care facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe and therapeutic milieu by monitoring residents and redirecting behaviors.
  • Assist residents during the admission process, including bag searches and paperwork.
  • Establish therapeutic relationships and provide care in line with Walden's policies.
  • Document daily resident notes accurately and thoroughly.
  • Supervise meals and provide guidance as needed.
  • Participate in community meetings, group therapies, and social activities.
  • Help facilitate group therapy sessions, including DBT, CBT, and Body Image.
  • Communicate effectively with treatment teams to ensure high-quality care.
  • Conduct daily resident weigh-ins and complete assigned tasks from clinical staff.

What We’re Looking ForQualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred; High School diploma required.
  • Licensure/Certification: Current CPR Certification.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships, and crisis management.

  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize independently.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced mental health environment.
  • Collaborative team player.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
