Job Details
The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing strategic financial insights to support the organization's growth and operational efficiency in multifamily construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and present financial statements to the VP of Finance and executive team. Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the budgeting process and ongoing forecasting efforts. Monitor variances and communicate financial performance.
- Accounting Operations: Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions. Ensure accurate and timely financial transactions.
- Project Financial Management: Track project budgets, costs, and profitability for multifamily developments. Analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities.
- Compliance and Audit: Ensure compliance with regulations and assist with audits.
- Financial Controls: Develop and implement financial policies and procedures. Conduct regular reviews of financial processes.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor accounting staff. Foster a collaborative work environment.
- Strategic Support: Provide financial analysis and insights for strategic decision-making and long-term planning. Participate in management meetings.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles and software (e.g., ERP System, NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage).
- 5+ years of experience as a Controller or similar role in the construction industry, focusing on multifamily.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Ability to manage complex financial information and provide strategic insights.
