Position Overview
The Instrument and Electrical Technician II is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and instrumentation systems across production facilities. This role ensures safe and reliable operations while adhering to all regulations, technical standards, and company Work Management & Permit to Work Systems.
Powerline experience is mandatory, and candidates with lineman/journeyman backgrounds and experience working with 25KV–125KV systems are strongly preferred. This is a night-shift field position requiring strong technical competency, safety focus, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
• Install, maintain, repair, and test electrical and instrumentation systems used in production operations
• Ensure all work complies with HSE policies, regulatory requirements, and company procedures
• Oversee and update work activities within assigned areas, emphasizing safety and environmental stewardship
• Support coordination between operations, engineering, and project teams
• Review and provide input on control system specifications and work practices
• Manage electrical and control systems as defined by the Work Management Manual
• Apply and follow Permit to Work System (PTWS) requirements
• Ensure maintenance tasks are completed safely, accurately, and on schedule
• Provide technical support to fellow technicians on I&E systems troubleshooting
• Generate and follow through on MOCs related to electrical and control equipment
• Inspect new installations, ensuring compliance and recommending upgrades when needed
• Attend and deliver technical meetings and training sessions as required
• Support work prioritization to maximize maintenance program effectiveness
• Serve as backup to the Instrument and Electrical Lead when needed
• Utilize OpenInvoice for field ticket approvals
Skills and Qualifications
Education & Experience
• Associate degree preferred, supplemented by relevant technical coursework
• Experience maintaining electrical systems and instrumentation in oil & gas or processing plants
• Minimum 5 years preferred
• Powerline experience is a must (required)
• Lineman / Journeyman background strongly preferred
• Familiarity with 25KV and 125KV voltage systems
Technical Competencies
• Strong knowledge of regulations governing oil & gas facility operations
• Understanding of OIMS, PTW systems, and Work Management processes
• Proficient computing skills (Microsoft Suite, maintenance systems, work management tools)
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control drawings
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical capability
