EDUCATION

A B.S. or B.A. or equivalent normally required, Mortgage Lending, HMDA and Quality control training or practical experience.

PREFERRED SKILLS

Proficient reading, writing, grammar, mathematics, and analytical skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative abilities; demonstrated supervisory skills; a thorough knowledge of all aspects of loan operations activities and tasks, including the legal and regulatory aspects of lending that impact operations; a comprehensive knowledge of bank lending policies and procedures; proficient PC and loan software skills; visual and auditory skills.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for establishing advanced quality controls and implementing continuous improvement standards and procedures for State Bank. Collaborates with the Risk Management Group to understand changes in regulatory requirements in our Mortgage, Consumer and Commercial Business Lines, coordinates the implementation with Operations Leaders and establishes operational metrics to proactively identify defects in our production. Collaborates with the CTIO, QC Manager and other Directors in the Operations areas to execute specific goals for the department; determines work procedures and drives the required quality standards. Ensures process compliance with all operating policies and procedures; communicates with appropriate personnel; provides periodic reports.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    Provide the following services to the Operations Group:

    • Perform data integrity reviews. Conduct timely reviews of loan data contained in the Loan Application Register (LAR) to ensure its accuracy.
    • Validate against source documents. Verify reported HMDA data against source documents, such as the loan application, to confirm that information is consistent and correct.
    • Execute testing procedures. Run test scripts on HMDA data fields, including those for rate spread, debt-to-income (DTI), and income, to check for errors and inconsistencies.
    • Identify and resolve discrepancies. Find data anomalies, investigate their root causes, and work with departments to correct the issues.
    • Mortgage Pre and Post Closing reviews.
    • HMDA implementation, review, and transition to Risk Management for submission.
    • Ensure that all activities of the department are conducted in accordance with established bank lending policy, procedures, quality, and service level agreements (SLAs).
    • Work closely and communicate with the Quality Control Manager as well as other appropriate staff personnel to enhance internal operations, such as resolving problems, providing information, etc.
    • Assist with regulatory compliance efforts
    • Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules, and expedite workflow.
    • Provide timely reporting to the Quality Control Manager and other appropriate groups or individuals
    • Abide by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of sexual harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.
    • Cooperate with, participate in, and support the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management, overall safety and soundness, and the bank’s compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g. Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than two-thirds of the time.
    • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to accomplish tasks.
    • Must be able to adjust or move objects up to 20 pounds in all directions.
    • Frequently communicates with others to exchange information.
    • Constantly moves wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
    • Must be able to assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
