Salary Range: $55.87 - $69.12 per hour

Pay Transparency:

This salary range represents the expected hourly wage for this role in New Jersey. The final compensation for the selected candidate will be influenced by various factors, including their educational qualifications, skills, and relevant experience.

Sign-On Bonus: $12,000

Job Overview

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will support the nuclear physician in executing specialized imaging procedures.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
  • Possession of a valid New Jersey State license.
  • Certification in ARRT(R), ARRT(CT), and/or NMTCB Fusion.
  • Current BLS certification.

Preferred:

  • A minimum of two years of experience as a staff technologist in a hospital setting.

Scheduling Requirements

  • This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, consisting of five 8-hour shifts during the day. Weekend shifts are required every 5th or 6th week, and on-call duties are also part of the role. Responsibilities will extend to University Hospital and Plum St. Imaging Center on the New Brunswick Campus, all of which are interconnected by a bridge.

Essential Functions

  • Adhere to standards set by the hospital and relevant state and federal regulatory bodies.
  • Complete special assignments from the supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Assist the nuclear physician in carrying out specialized imaging procedures.
  • Ensure all tests are conducted accurately and that results are valid before patient release.
  • Calibrate the dose calibrator and perform quality control on gamma cameras according to departmental protocols, promptly reporting any issues to the lead technologist.
  • Clearly explain procedures to patients, including expected wait times, while ensuring their comfort during the process. Utilize prescribed technical parameters to obtain optimal images.
  • Verify patient identities (both inpatient and outpatient) in accordance with hospital standard operating procedures before initiating any procedures.
  • Conduct all hot lab functions, including the receipt, use, and disposal of radiopharmaceuticals, strictly following vendor, departmental, and DEP regulations.
