The City of Douglasville is now accepting applications for our Spring Internship Program!

This learning experience affords the students a view of the inner workings of city government. Each intern will have a variety of responsibilities and assigned projects that relate to their field of study. Each intern must be open to new ideas and suggestions, and be committed to completing the internship in its entirety. Interns also have the opportunity to participate in some special activities depending on the department assigned.

Internship Opportunity:

Selected students will participate in a meaningful and challenging 20-week spring internship that will allow each intern to have exposure to different facets of local government, and receive critical skills, and career and personal development training. Interns will work on a wide variety of tasks and projects within a cross-functional team of professionals and get exposure to leaders within the organization. Please feel free to apply to no more than TWO (2) internships.

Typically, 40 hours per week; The rate of pay will be paid at $20 per hour.

Internship Focus:

Employee Engagement & Workplace Culture, Training, Wellness & Retention Initiatives

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update employee training records
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including preparing sign-in sheets, sending follow-up emails, and supporting event logistics
  • Support the planning and execution of employee trainings, workshops, and wellness events
  • Help prepare communication materials such as flyers, presentations, and intranet posts
  • Conduct research on best practices in organizational development and wellness
  • Assist with tracking employee engagement and gathering feedback for continuous improvement

Learning Outcomes:

  • Gain hands-on experience in coordinating organizational development and training initiatives
  • Strengthen communication and administrative skills through professional correspondence and logistical coordination
  • Understand the role of wellness, training, and engagement in employee retention and workplace culture
  • Learn to collect, organize, and interpret employee data to support strategic OD efforts
  • Gain exposure to municipal operations and cross-departmental collaboration
  • Enhance problem-solving and time management skills in a fast-paced environment

Eligibility Requirements:

  • United States citizen or authorized to work in the United States
  • Current enrollment in a college, university, or technical school
  • Current grade point average of 3.0 or better

Preferred Skills:

Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word)
