Job Description

The Inspector Services Specialist is responsible for performing tasks prior to, during, and after presidentially declared disasters in support of a contract with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. This role is part of an active team and reports directly to the Customer Experience Manager. This is a full-time position requiring flexibility in adapting to a dynamic schedule that often includes long hours, weekends, and 24-hour operations. In rare circumstances, travel may be required with little notice.

Position Requirements

The primary functions include interacting with inspectors via phone daily, supporting continuing education, security requirements, and deployment administrative needs. These tasks and functions are as stated below but not limited to the following:

  • Being well versed in standard operating procedures on a daily basis
  • Referring callers to the appropriate department to receive information and assistance
  • Assisting in the maintenance of accurate records of inspectors through paper, electronic, and database files
  • Serving as a contact point for inspectors’ inquiries regarding workshops, webinars, security requirements, deployment preparations, deployment opportunities, etc.
  • Contacting inspectors and scheduling new and advanced training. Providing training information and reminders to attendees prior to scheduled time
  • Utilizing internal databases and documenting successful contact as well as contact attempts via phone and email
  • Providing feedback on ways to improve functionality and effectiveness of internal database
  • Following up with inspectors to help ensure compliance with FEMA background check and other contract requirements
  • Reaching out to potential inspector new hires when needed
  • Contacting inspectors in anticipation of deployments to determine availability
  • Being well versed in standard deployment protocol and procedures
  • Contacting inspectors for deployment and recording all call attempts and results accurately
  • Providing inspector with necessary travel and deployment details
  • Assist in meeting and maintaining contractual obligations
  • Contacting applicants to perform survey calls and recording results accurately
  • Assisting other departments when needed and other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • A high school diploma is required, BA preferred.
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience; experience working with FEMA emergency management strongly preferred.
  • Candidates should be willing to work long hours and be on call, when necessary, with little to no notice.
  • Positive attitude is a must.
  • The ability to work accurately and under tight deadlines is desired.
  • The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience in the administrative/customer service field. Strong customer service skills, written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook are necessary.
  • Reliable internet and phone service are required when working remote.
