A 284-bed Level II Trauma Center in Lone Tree is seeking a Director of Surgical Services to lead perioperative operations within a high-performing acute care hospital. This destination facility includes a dedicated Robotics Center along with a Spine and Total Joint Center, supporting a highly specialized surgical environment.
Position Overview
This leadership role reports to the VP of Surgical Services and works in close collaboration with other perioperative leaders overseeing spine, joint, and broader surgical programs. The Director is responsible for the Main Operating Room and Sterile Processing Department, leading both an OR Manager and SPD Manager.
The Main OR performs approximately 500+ cases monthly, covering a wide range of surgical specialties supported by advanced robotic technology, including six Xi systems and one DV5.
The focus of this role is to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical operations while strengthening collaboration with physicians and administrative leaders to support continued service line growth.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee daily operations of the Main OR and Sterile Processing Department
• Lead and support OR and SPD managers in delivering efficient, high-quality surgical services
• Promote evidence-based practices to improve patient safety and clinical outcomes
• Monitor and reduce variation in surgical workflows to improve efficiency and consistency
• Manage departmental budgeting, labor planning, and productivity performance
• Partner with physicians and hospital leadership to support surgical service line growth
• Maintain compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards
• Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement
• Support recruitment, retention, and development of perioperative staff and leaders
• Oversee quality initiatives focused on surgical outcomes and operational performance
Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
• Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of surgical services experience required
• At least 1 year of recent leadership experience in surgical services as a Director or strong Manager-level experience required
• Demonstrated experience leading perioperative operations in a high-volume surgical environment required
