Job Description: Critical Care APP (Advanced Practice Provider)
Specialty: Critical Care
Department Beds: 36
Schedule: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider (APP) (NP/PA) to join our team and provide contingency coverage in our critical care units, including MSICU, CICU, and NCCU. This position will be used to cover for turnover, PTO, or when additional coverage is required. While there are no guaranteed shifts per month, we are looking for an experienced and flexible provider who can step in when needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide critical care support in MSICU, CICU, and NCCU managing 16-20 patients per day, excluding trauma and CT surgery patients (who manage their own cases).
- Perform a variety of procedures, including central line placements, intubations, bronchoscopy, chest tubes, thoracentesis, and paracentesis.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of RNs (5-8), NPs/PAs, and other healthcare providers to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation in the Epic EMR system.
Certifications Required:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) Certification
Licensing Requirements:
Must be WI licensed or eligible through IMLC (Interstate Medical Licensure Compact).
Credentialing Timeframe: 90 days
Support Staff:
- 5-8 RNs per shift, providing essential nursing support in the critical care setting.
- 1 NP/PA to collaborate with other team members in delivering patient care.
EMR System: Epic
Additional Notes:
- This is a contingency-based position intended to provide coverage for turnover or PTO.
- The position requires flexibility, as there are no guaranteed shifts per month.
