Quality Assurance Technician - Cosmetics - Minneapolis, MN
Our client, a leading organization in the manufacturing industry, is are seeking a detail-oriented and quality-focused Quality Control Technician to support our cosmetic manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have a four-year degree in a scientific discipline and experience in ensuring product quality throughout the production lifecycle. This role is responsible for reviewing batch documentation, testing raw materials and finished goods, and performing microbiological testing to ensure all cosmetic products meet regulatory and internal standards.

- $24 - $26 per hour, commensurate with experience
- Hours: 2:30 pm - 10:30 pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Audit batch paperwork during the filling process to verify finished goods meet established quality specifications and cosmetic industry standards.
- Review, test, and approve bulk compounded cosmetic batches to ensure compliance with formulation specifications prior to filling.
- Test finished cosmetic products to confirm adherence to aesthetic, physical, and chemical specifications (e.g., pH, viscosity, appearance).
- Inspect incoming packaging components (primary and secondary) for conformity to approved specifications, including labeling, integrity, and compatibility.
- Conduct microbiological testing on bulk, finished goods, and raw materials (as applicable) to detect microbial contamination and ensure product safety.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and organized documentation in compliance with cGMP and cosmetic regulatory standards.
- Perform additional quality-related duties as assigned to support continuous improvement and product excellence.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a science field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or related discipline) is required.
- Prior experience in quality control or laboratory testing in the cosmetics, personal care, or consumer goods industry is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) specific to cosmetics and personal care products.
- Familiarity with microbiological and analytical techniques relevant to cosmetic testing.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify deviations from quality standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with quality management systems (QMS) or LIMS is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment.
Additional Requirements:
- Work performed in a laboratory and manufacturing setting, with regular use of lab instruments and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform manual tasks for extended periods.
- May occasionally be required to lift and move materials up to 25 lbs.
