Prospect Grove High School is a private academic institution licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. We serve adolescent males in a residential addiction treatment setting, providing year-round education with low student-to-teacher ratios. Our mission is to deliver a rigorous, standards-aligned academic program infused with a social-emotional learning approach that prepares students for success in the 21st century. We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic High School English Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering student engagement, promoting academic growth, and supporting the emotional needs of students in recovery. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support overall student success.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver lesson plans aligned with Pennsylvania Common Core Standards
- • Use varied instructional strategies to support diverse learners
- Create and adapt engaging instructional materials suitable for multiple academic levels
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments
- Track and communicate student progress effectively with staff, families, and support services
- Design and implement curricula for two high school English courses
- Support a structured and emotionally safe classroom environment
- Collaborate with colleagues to support whole-student development
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
- Current Pennsylvania certification in English
- Current and valid background clearances (PA Criminal History, Child Abuse, FBI Fingerprint)
- Ability to manage classroom behaviors and support trauma-informed practices
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Self-motivated, flexible, and passionate about student achievement Preferred Skills & Technologies
- Effective lesson planning and differentiation
- Use of SMART Board and instructional technology
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Familiarity with trauma-informed and social-emotional learning frameworks
