About the Role
Pocket FM is seeking a Slate Director – Content Innovation to lead the development of a high-velocity content discovery engine that combines AI-assisted storytelling with editorial excellence. This role will build and oversee the front end of our content slate—rapidly generating, testing, and refining new story concepts before they move into full production.
Working at the intersection of creative development, AI, product, and audience insights, you'll partner closely with our Product and AI teams to shape the evolution of our proprietary writing platform while establishing scalable creative systems that consistently produce high-performing stories.

Responsibilities
- Own a high-velocity content engine that rapidly develops and tests a large volume of story concepts using AI-assisted writing tools.
- Lead the creation of audio drama scripts designed for rapid validation, identifying concepts with the strongest audience potential before deeper investment.
- Partner closely with Product and AI teams to improve Pocket FM's proprietary AI writing platform, providing creative direction and workflow feedback that enhances both quality and efficiency.
- Build scalable prompt libraries, editorial frameworks, and quality control systems that consistently generate compelling stories at speed.
- Maintain ownership of the creative quality of every script, ensuring strong story structure, memorable characters, compelling hooks, and exceptional audience retention.
- Serve as the discovery layer for Pocket FM's broader content slate by quickly identifying stories and narrative structures with breakout potential.
- Analyze audience retention and performance data to continuously optimize creative direction, AI workflows, and story development processes.
- Deliver production-ready scripts to audio production teams while continually refining and improving the AI-powered writing pipeline.
- Establish repeatable systems that increase development velocity while improving the overall success rate of new content.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in creative development, scripted content, editorial, entertainment, publishing, or digital media.
- Demonstrated experience using generative AI tools, including LLMs, prompt engineering, AI writing platforms, and automated creative workflows.
- Strong editorial instincts with deep knowledge of story structure, pacing, character development, and serialized storytelling.
- Experience designing scalable creative systems, workflows, and operational processes that support high-volume content production.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple content initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of audience retention, social media engagement, binge consumption behavior, and digital storytelling mechanics.
- Comfortable using audience analytics and performance data to guide creative decisions and iterative improvements.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, AI, or technical teams.
- Experience developing serialized fiction, podcasts, audio dramas, television, film, web novels, or other digital-first entertainment.
- Familiarity with AI workflow automation, evaluation frameworks, prompt optimization, or content pipeline design.
- Experience leading creative teams or building new content development processes from the ground up.
- Passion for shaping the future of AI-powered entertainment and storytelling.

Salary: $100,000-$120,000 Annually
