Summary of Position:

The primary responsibility of this role is to handle, package, and organize wholesale bread, prepared items, and pastry products for distribution. The ideal candidate will ensure that all products are prepared, labeled, and stored efficiently while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all food products are consistently packed according to Jyan Isaac Breads portioning, packaging and labeling standards.
  • Transfer bread from the oven to bags, racks, or designated storage areas.
  • Prepare items for farmers' markets, retail outlets, or large tray orders.
  • Ensure all products are packaged in a sanitary and careful manner.
  • Accurately count and record inventory levels.
  • Monitor stock levels to ensure availability for wholesale and retail needs.
  • Label all products appropriately, including applying safety labels for farmers' market items.
  • Ensure labels are accurate and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Organize the bakery area during downtime to maintain cleanliness and efficiency.
  • Assist in cleaning machinery and workstations as needed.
  • Inspect products for quality before packaging.
  • Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the commissary as directed by the Distributions Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of wholesale packing experience required.
  • Be physically able to lift, reach, bend and stoop.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for up to 10 hours.
  • Repetitive motion such as slicing, packing, labeling for long periods of time with minimal breaks.
  • Must have Food Handlers permit on file


Working Conditions and Expectations:


  • Work schedule will may vary between early morning to late evening, weekends and holidays
  • Shifts will range from 8 10 hours and you may at times be asked to work overtime
  • Always act in a professional manner that represents the restaurant, owners, partners and staff.
  • Demonstrate teamwork in all areas of the commissary
  • Work with a positive attitude in all types of situations
  • Follow safety and sanitation rules and laws at all times
  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings.
  • Always act in the best interest of the restaurant, fellow employees and guests.

Physical Requirements:


  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Repetitive tasks with few breaks
  • Be able to work in a standing position for up to 10 hours.
