Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available in North Adams, MA, serving students with significant cognitive and physical disabilities in substantially separate classrooms. This role focuses on early childhood and elementary age groups, specifically K-1st grade and 3rd-5th grade rooms, and requires hands-on support for diverse and complex needs.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering specially designed instruction tailored to each students individual needs.
- Providing support for toileting and other personal care routines.
- Working closely with students on the autism spectrum, including those who are non-verbal.
- Collaborating with Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT) who may provide additional support.
- Developing and implementing behavior intervention plans using applied behavior analysis strategies.
- Maintaining accurate documentation and progress reports for each student.
- Communicating effectively with families, staff, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Certification and experience in special education.
- Strong skills in specially designed instruction and applied behavior analysis.
- Experience working with students with severe disabilities.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviors and provide toileting assistance.
- Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
- Commitment to working onsite full-time in the designated school setting.
