Job Description

Job DescriptionAbout Vector

Vector is a defense technology company building advanced unmanned systems and training the operators who deploy them. We recently emerged from stealth and are scaling fast to meet mission-critical demand.

Our work supports military professionals in high-consequence environments. We take that seriously. We move fast, communicate clearly, and hold the line on quality.

We operate by three values:

  • Be Relentless: We pursue our objectives with unwavering determination and tenacity. We strive to do more and get better. If someone closes a door in our face, we breach through the wall.
  • Be Ethical: We work in a complex industry-never give anyone an opportunity to question our integrity. While we compete fiercely, we never break the law, violate regulations, or compromise our ethical standards.
  • Be Professional: We conduct ourselves with the highest standards of competence, responsibility, and respect in all interactions and tasks. Our customers look to us for the best training and equipment. We are the example for them.

The Role

As a Manufacturing Test Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing test procedures that ensure product quality, reliability, and manufacturability. You'll collaborate across engineering, quality, and production teams to diagnose issues, drive continuous improvement, and ensure that every unit shipped meets exacting standards. Your work will directly impact product quality and production efficiency as we scale.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement test procedures to validate product functionality, performance, and reliability on the manufacturing line.
  • Analyze test data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for optimization.
  • Provide Design for Test (DFT) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) feedback to engineering teams to improve product testability and yield.
  • Investigate test failures and manufacturing defects; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure all test equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and configured for production use.
  • Document test plans, procedures, and results; deliver training and support to manufacturing personnel.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives focused on manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, QA, and operations, to support product launches and resolve production issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience troubleshooting commercial electronic equipment and developing test systems.
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing environment with exposure to quality systems and design controls.
  • Ownership of test projects from concept through implementation, often while managing multiple parallel efforts.
  • Experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Proficiency in Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Strong foundation in engineering principles related to product design, testing, and manufacturing.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and self-motivated with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and standard digital tools.
