Associate Client Account Manager

Stevens Foster Financial Advisors | Bloomington, MN

About Stevens Foster

Stevens Foster is an established, independent RIA firm with over 38 years of experience serving corporate executives and high-net-worth individuals in the Twin Cities.

We provide integrated financial planning, investment management, and tax-forward advisory services, and have built a strong reputation through long-term client relationships and a consistently high standard of care. Many of our clients engage us first through tax work, and we build long-term advisory relationships from there.

Our advisory model is team-based. Advisors (Client Account Managers) focus on guiding clients and managing relationshipsnot selling, prospecting, or building individual books of business.

This is a salaried, stable environment with real income, strong benefits, and a long-term career path.

About the Role

We are hiring an Associate Client Account Manager as part of our long-term advisor pipeline.

This role is designed for someone with early experience in financial services who is ready to move beyond transactional or support work into a more relationship-focused advisory role.

In the first six months of training, you will work closely with experienced advisors, gain exposure to real client conversations, and build the skills needed to manage client relationships independently over time.

Unlike many advisory roles that are primarily investment-focused, this role is heavily grounded in tax-aware financial planning. You will regularly work with client tax returns and develop the ability to connect tax concepts directly to planning and investment decisions.

This is not a back-office role, and it is not a sales role. It is a development path into a client-facing, tax-aware advisory path within a structured, team-based firm.

What Youll Do in the first six (6) months:

Client Relationship & Meeting Support

  • Prepare materials, agendas, and summaries for client meetings
  • Participate in client meetings alongside advisors to observe and learn relationship management and advisory discussions
  • Document client goals, action items, and updates to ensure continuity and follow-through

Account Operations & Client Requests

  • Support account-related activities including paperwork, money movement, transfers, and DocuSign coordination
  • Partner with Client Service Associates and Operations to ensure tasks are completed accurately and efficiently
  • Assist in gathering financial documents and maintaining organized client records

Team Coordination

  • Communicate client needs clearly with Planning, Tax, and Investment teams under advisor guidance
  • Help coordinate deliverables across departments and ensure deadlines are met
  • Stay aligned on meeting schedules, planning cycles, and client priorities

Development into an Advisor Role

  • Build knowledge of financial planning, investments, tax, and estate concepts through training and mentorship
  • Gradually take on more responsibility in client communication and meeting participation
  • Develop the skills needed to lead client relationships over time
  • Pursue relevant certifications (CFP, Series 65, etc.) as part of your growth

Tax Exposure & Client Conversations

  • Review client tax returns (Form 1040) at a high level with advisors to understand income, deductions, and planning opportunities
  • Sit in on client conversations where tax strategy is a central part of the discussion
  • Begin connecting tax concepts to broader planning (investments, retirement, equity compensation, etc.)
  • Develop comfort explaining tax-related concepts in a clear, client-friendly way

What were looking for:

Required Qualifications

  • 24 years of experience in financial services (wealth management, brokerage, banking, tax, or similar)
  • Experience working directly with clients in a professional setting
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Professional presence and ability to work with high-net-worth clients
  • Demonstrated stability and growth in prior roles

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting financial advisor teams or working in a wealth management or RIA environment
  • Exposure to investment accounts, money movement, or financial account administration
  • Familiarity with financial planning concepts (retirement, investments, tax, estate basics)
  • Exposure to or interest in investment and portfolio taxation, including tax-efficient investing
  • Experience reviewing or working with individual tax returns (Form 1040) at a high level
  • Experience in a high-volume client service environment (e.g., brokerage, bank)
  • Interest in or progress toward professional certifications (Series 65, CFP)

Most importantly, youre looking to move from a transactional or support role into a relationship-driven advisory career.

Compensation & Benefits

  • We offer a competitive base salary and annual discretionary bonus tied to individual and firm performance.
  • No commissions or sales quotas
  • Hybrid work environment after training period
  • Eligible employees receive a competitive benefits package, including:
  • Paid Time Off (18 days annually at hire, increasing with tenure)
  • 10 paid holidays plus 1 floating holiday
  • 8 hours of Volunteer Paid Time Off annually
  • Safe Harbor 401(k) with employer match and immediate vesting after 1 year
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Minnesota Paid Family & Medical Leave (private plan)
  • Professional development and continuing education reimbursement (with approval)
  • Discounted advisory services for eligible employees

Why This Role Makes Sense

Many financial services roles fall into one of two paths:

  • Transactional client service work with limited growth
  • Sales-focused advisor roles requiring you to build a book

This role offers a different path. Youll build a strong foundation in tax-aware advising, a skill set that differentiates top advisors and is increasingly critical for high-income clients

At Stevens Foster, youll have the opportunity to:

  • Work with an established client base of executives and high-net-worth individuals
  • Learn directly from experienced finance professionals
  • Develop into a client relationship manager within a team-based model
  • Build a long-term career path in tax, planning, and client-facing finance without relying on sales or business development

Who This Role Is a Good Fit For

This role tends to be a strong fit for individuals currently in:

  • Wealth management support or advisor assistant positions
  • Tax advisor or tax accountant roles
  • Bank or brokerage client service roles

who are ready for the next step into a more client-facing, relationship-focused career.

We are looking for someone who wants to build a long-term career in advising within a collaborative firm, someone who values client relationships, consistency, and professional growth.
