If so, we invite you to join Iona Senior Services as the Medical Director (Independent Contractor) for our Adult Day Health Program, providing part-time clinical leadership and quality assurance for our participants.SUMMARY:

The Medical Director provides clinical guidance and quality oversight for Iona's Adult Day Health Program, ensuring participants receive appropriate medical care through policy development, staff consultation, and regulatory compliance support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Policy & Protocol Development
    • Review and advise on medical protocols (fall prevention, infection control, emergency response) in collaboration with ADHP Director and Clinical Nurse Manager
    • Provide annual training to staff on emergency protocol activation
    • Update medical policies as needed to maintain regulatory compliance
  2. Clinical Consultation & Documentation
    • Consult with participants' physicians on an as-needed basis when medical documentation is delayed or incomplete (e.g., EPOFs, annual evaluations)
    • Periodically review care plans and clinical documentation to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance.
    • Provide clinical direction to nursing staff for urgent onsite medical situations
  3. Emergency Medical Oversight
    • Serve as medical authority when onsite for urgent participant needs
    • Determine when emergency services should be engaged
    • Review and advise on emergency response protocols to ensure staff readiness

4. Interdisciplinary Team Participation

  • Attend annual team meetings (in-person or virtual) to review participants' medical needs
  • Sign off on required care plan documentation to meet DHCF standards
  • Participate in quality assurance reviews as needed

TYPICAL SCHEDULE

  • Annual staff training session (2-3 hours)
  • Quarterly protocol review meetings (1 hour each)
  • Annual care plan reviews and documentation (4-6 hours)
  • As-needed consultation for urgent medical or documentation issues (variable)
  • Periodic chart reviews for quality assurance (2-3 hours annually)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active medical license in Washington, D.C.
  • Experience in geriatric care or adult day health services strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of DHCF regulations and ADHP requirements
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and clinical decision-making skills.
