We are seeking a Process Engineer to design, develop, test, and optimize robotic welding systems and integrated manufacturing processes. This role will focus on improving human work factors, product quality, and production efficiency while ensuring safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize robotic welding processes (MIG, TIG, spot welding).
- Program and troubleshoot robotic systems (FANUC, ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa).
- Develop welding fixtures and jigs to ensure repeatability and precision.
- Establish and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), PQRs, and SOPs.
- Apply failure mode analysis, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
- Implement and monitor weld quality standards (penetration, porosity, strength).
- Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, design, and controls teams.
- Support commissioning of new robotic welding systems and equipment.
- Drive safety compliance with ANSI/RIA R15.06, OSHA, and risk assessment standards.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives for cycle time, uptime, and quality.
- Contribute to Advanced Quality Planning (PFMEA, DOE, R-PFMEA, V&V).
- Analyze process and weld data using Excel, Power BI, or Python.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
- 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing, process, or quality engineering.
- Hands-on experience with robotic welding and automation systems.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints (GD&T).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality software.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred:
- 5+ years of robotic welding or automation experience.
- Fixture and tooling design experience.
- Automotive or heavy manufacturing background.
