Job DescriptionTeacher Assistant – Special Education (ED Program)

Location: South Riding, VA 20152
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:45 AM – 3:00 PM (7.25 hrs/day, includes 30-min break)
Contract: 21 weeks
Pay: $20–$25/hour (Weekly: $725–$906)

Overview
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a dedicated Teacher Assistant to support an Elementary Emotional Disabilities (ED) Program. This role provides academic, behavioral, and emotional support in a structured classroom environment, working closely with special education staff to support student success.

Responsibilities

  • Support small-group and one-on-one instruction

  • Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and reinforce positive behaviors

  • Assist with classroom management and student supervision

  • Observe and document student progress and behaviors

  • Ensure student safety during class, transitions, lunch, and recess

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Paraprofessional certification preferred)

  • Experience in special education, behavioral support, or school settings preferred

  • Patient, calm, and professional in high-stress situations

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to assist with physical redirection when required for safety
