A Registered Nurse (RN) is needed to provide prehensive health services within a K-12 school setting in Fruitland, NM. This contract position runs through May 29, 2026, requiring an onsite presence with a weekly mitment of 37.5 hours. The role includes acting as Lead Nurse and supervising Health Aides across 23 schools.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing daily health office operations and providing first aid and basic care for students and staff
- Administering prescribed medications and treatments accurately
- Supporting students with chronic health conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and epilepsy
- Maintaining thorough documentation of health visits, medication logs, and immunization records
- Assisting with health screenings and offering support for IEP/504 plans
- Responding calmly and effectively to health emergencies
- Collaborating closely with school staff, parents, and healthcare providers
- Traveling between assigned schools as needed
Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- CPR/AED certification
- Strong munication and organizational skills
- Experience working with children or in educational settings is preferred
- Ability to pass background checks and fingerprint clearance
- Willingness to travel between schools
Preferred qualifications:
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Navajo (Din)
- Familiarity with IEPs and individualized student care plans
- Knowledge of school health regulations and FERPA pliance
