Location: Roanoke, Virginia (Downtown Office)

Job Summary

The Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for the design and delivery of HVAC systems across a diverse portfolio of projects including educational, civic, arts, and commercial facilities. This role requires strong technical expertise, collaborative communication skills, and a commitment to mentoring junior staff while ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

This position plays a key role in supporting high-quality mechanical system design and contributing to successful, client-focused project outcomes.

As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for:Mechanical System Design

  • Design HVAC systems for a variety of project types including educational, civic, arts, and commercial buildings.

  • Perform design load calculations and energy modeling to support efficient and code-compliant system design.

  • Utilize industry-standard tools and software to develop accurate and effective mechanical system designs.

Project Execution & Coordination

  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within established budget parameters.

  • Collaborate closely with internal team members and external clients to support seamless project execution.

  • Maintain clear and effective communication throughout all project phases.

Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor and support junior engineering staff.

  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment focused on professional development and technical excellence.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Mechanical Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

  • 7–10 years of professional mechanical engineering experience preferred.

  • Proficiency in design load calculation and energy modeling software such as Trace and ComCheck.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Proficiency in REVIT preferred.

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
