Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant

Location: Clinton Township, MI

Job Type: Locum Tenens

Overview:

A hospital-based opportunity is available for a Physician Assistant with cardiothoracic surgery experience. This role focuses on assisting in the operating room and supporting surgical cases in a collaborative, physician-led environment.

Regular hourly rate $180, night call $400 pager fee and $230/hr call back

Schedule:

7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Call schedule varies (rotational)

Call ratio: 1:4

Practice Details:

Setting: Inpatient / Operating Room

Trauma Level: II

Patient Population: Adult

EMR: Epic

Supervision: Physician present in the OR (no independent practice)

Patient Volume:

4–8 patients per day

Responsibilities:

Primary role: First assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures

Perform and assist with procedures including:

Central venous and dialysis catheter placement

Arterial line placement

Intra-aortic balloon pump placement

Vascular tissue retrieval for bypass conduit

Endoscopic vessel harvesting

Chest tube insertions

Thoracentesis

Requirements:

NCCPA Board Certified – Required

Active Michigan License (in hand; no pending licenses) – Required

ACLS & BLS (AHA) – Required

Minimum 1 year of cardiothoracic OR experience – Required

No new graduates

Robotic experience – Preferred

Credentialing:

Estimated timeframe: 90–120 days
