Job Description\n
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level IV Emergency Department position requiring a current MI RN license and advanced certifications.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
- Acute care setting in a 14-bed Level IV Emergency Department
- Patient volume ranges from 40-60 per day with a diverse caseload including trauma, MVAs, and hunting accidents
- Two trauma bays, three Fast Track rooms, and two triage rooms are available
- Nurse-to-patient ratios typically 1:3-4 during the day, higher ratios after 11pm with two RNs after 3am
- Shifts are 12 hours, primarily starting at 3pm or 7pm, with some variable start times including 12pm
- Schedule includes every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) and two out of three winter holidays
- Floating is required for inpatient assistance when needed
- Charting is completed using a computerized system; EMR transitioning from Cerner to Epic
- No block scheduling is available
- Travelers may participate in triage after completing facility policy training
- ED physician present 24/7 and additional support staff includes CNA, LPN, medics, and phlebotomy
- RNs are responsible for reading their own strips on central monitoring station
- Two days of floor orientation and computer-based training provided
- Clean, professional scrubs in any solid color required
- No 24/7 in-house security; local police and internal protocols used for security emergencies
- First time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former permanent staff must have a six-month break before consideration
- Candidates living within 80 miles are considered local and subject to a reduced rate

- Active MI RN license required by start date
- Minimum of 2 years Emergency Department RN experience
- Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), TNCC
- Experience with diverse patient populations in an acute ED setting
- Two professional references: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years in specialty
