Job DescriptionWe are looking for a dedicated Payroll Clerk to join our team in North Charleston, South Carolina. This is a Contract to permanent position within the automotive industry, offering an excellent opportunity to grow your career. The ideal candidate will assist with core payroll functions, administrative tasks, and employee communication, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail in all interactions.

Responsibilities:
• Compile and maintain payroll records, ensuring accurate data management.
• Provide clerical support as needed, including filing, data entry, and document organization.
• Maintain a detail-oriented approach when communicating with employees, visitors, and external agencies.
• Enter and update 401k contributions, loan payments, and garnishment details in the payroll system.
• Process medical or child support orders and file them appropriately.
• Assist with resolving discrepancies related to employee benefits and payroll.
• Educate employees on company policies, procedures, and benefits during onboarding and ongoing communication.
• Respond to requests for information from government agencies, such as unemployment claims, in a timely manner.
• Handle inquiries regarding employee eligibility, salaries, and benefits with clarity and attention to detail.• Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and adherence to company policies and procedures.
• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee and company information.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly in small group settings.
• Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate percentages, discounts, and other figures.
• Experience with payroll systems such as Paycom is a plus but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and a willingness to collaborate with the Human Resources and Payroll teams.
