Position Summary
The Charge Nurse oversees and coordinates patient care activities during the assigned shift, providing direction to both licensed and non-licensed nursing personnel. This role plays a key part in staff development, performance evaluation, and maintaining a high standard of care. You will serve as the on-site leader in the absence of management, support crisis response efforts, and help ensure a safe, therapeutic environment for all patients.
What You’ll Do

Lead, organize, and direct nursing staff to ensure appropriate staffing ratios and high-quality care

Coordinate services with providers, patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams

Act as the on-shift leader, maintaining accountability for program operations

Monitor program safety and lead crisis response when needed

Support staff through coaching, training, and performance feedback

Maintain clear, timely, and confidential documentation and communication

Provide direct patient care while modeling best practices

Participate in staff meetings, committees, and ongoing program development

Keep leadership informed of shift activities, concerns, and outcomes
What You Bring
Education
-
Associate degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
Licensure/Certification
-
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kansas
-
ANCC Psychiatric Nursing Certification preferred
-
Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required
Experience
-
Minimum of 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience or ANCC certification in psychiatric nursing

Experience working with children and adolescents
Preferred Experience
-
More than 2 years supervising RNs in a psychiatric care setting

Experience with electronic medication administration records (eMAR) and electronic health records (EHR)
