Medix is hiring a Prior Authorization Representative to support a rapidly growing, tech-enabled healthcare organization focused on improving patient access and care coordination.
This is a fully remote, long-term contract (6+ months) with potential for full-time conversion for high performers.
This team operates in a high-accountability, high-impact environment, where prior authorization specialists play a critical role in ensuring patients receive timely, medically necessary care without delays.
What You'll Be Doing
- Manage end-to-end prior authorization workflows for procedures, imaging, and specialty services
- Review clinical documentation and physician orders to ensure alignment with payer requirements and medical necessity
- Submit, track, and follow up on authorization requests across commercial and government payers
- Communicate with insurance carriers to secure approvals, resolve denials, and clarify coverage requirements
- Proactively identify and address missing documentation or authorization barriers
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready documentation in EMR/EHR systems
- Partner cross-functionally with clinical, scheduling, and revenue cycle teams to ensure seamless patient access
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of hands-on prior authorization experience (REQUIRED)
- Proven experience handling submission, follow-up, and payer communication (not just verification)
- Strong understanding of medical necessity, clinical documentation, and payer guidelines
- Experience with denials, appeals, or complex cases strongly preferred
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems (e.g., eClinicalWorks, Epic, Cerner, etc.)
- Comfortable working in a high-volume, metrics-driven environment
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote setting
Schedule & Equipment
- Preferred schedule: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM EST (flexibility after ramp-up)
- Fully remote; equipment provided
- Equipment deposit policy applies ($50/paycheck up to $500 total; fully refundable)
Compensation & Benefits
- $25-$28/hour (based on experience)
- Weekly pay through Medix during contract period
- 6+ month contract with conversion potential
