Nurse Manager – Mother Baby Unit
The Clinical Manager of the Mother-Baby Unit is responsible for the operational and fiscal management of the department, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care and fostering a supportive, empowering environment for staff. Education & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (required)
- 2–3 years of obstetrical/neonatal clinical experience (preferred)
- Two or more years in a leadership or management role (preferred)
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills, with adaptability and dedication to team success
Licenses & Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – required upon hire
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – required within six months
Key Responsibilities:
Quality & Discharge Management:
- Conduct unit reports, bedside rounds, discharge rounds, and quality reviews to monitor care outcomes
- Assist with complex discharge planning and ensure smooth patient transitions
Staff Development & Education:
- Identify and address learning needs for team members
- Oversee orientation and provide real-time coaching to promote professional growth and quality care
Patient & Family-Centered Care:
- Facilitate informed decision-making by clearly explaining care plans, risks, benefits, and expected outcomes
- Maintain a supportive and ethical care environment
Quality Improvement & Policy Compliance:
- Lead performance improvement efforts and update policies to reflect best practices
- Track and address variations in patient outcomes, using data to guide action plans
Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
- Build collaborative relationships across units and disciplines to support safety, cultural competence, and clinical excellence
Leadership & Resource Management:
- Guide staff in goal setting, resource allocation, and problem-solving
- Ensure fiscal accountability and compliance with all regulations
Operational Oversight:
- Prioritize daily activities for optimal efficiency
- Supervise ancillary staff to ensure timely and accurate task completion
