Summary
ASSISTANT TEACHER QUALIFICATIONS:
•Must meet basic requirements of DHS licensing.
•Attend staff meetings and in-service training as required, a total of (18 hrs.) and (24 hrs.) for new staff.
•Must have the ability to relate to young children in a positive manner.
•Previous experience working with children preferred.
Duties
MAJOR FUNCTIONS:
•Assist the teacher in the implementation of daily plan of activities.
•Work with the teacher in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for children.
•Assist teacher in maintaining good communications with parents.
•Obtain in-service and yearly training requirements.
•Understand child care requirements.
•Keep Director informed of any classroom problems, change in schedules, such as playground, music and end of the year parties or any other activities.
•Assist in keeping the room well organized and arranged appropriately.
•Cooperate with other staff to create a professional environment.
•Assist in maintaining visual supervision of children.
•Assist in maintaining records.
•Assist in music, gymnastics, and any other needed areas.
•Make daily bleach water solution for cleaning tables.
•Prepare daily snack at appropriate time.
•Assist in cleaning room each afternoon prior to leaving.
•Any other duties that are needed to properly perform the job.
