Tired of the 9-to-5 grind? We’re looking for dedicated and eagle-eyed Set-Up Operators to join our team on our high-demand 2nd and 3rd shifts. If you thrive when others are winding down and you’re ready to take ownership of the extrusion process, we want to talk to you. You’ll be a vital part of helping Custom Profile achieve our goals of Zero Defects and 100% On-Time Delivery.
You’ll be responsible for the full spectrum of tasks in the production of Custom Profile's products, from prepping and setting up equipment to ensuring a stable, quality output. Safety and efficiency are your co-pilots, and teamwork is a must. Basically, you keep the lines humming while the world sleeps.
What You'll Be Doing (The Essentials):
- Setup Superstar: Take charge of prepping, setting up, starting, and completing all set-ups according to company specifications and standard work instructions.
- Quality Control Ace: Perform crucial quality checks, inspecting parts for surface, color, profile, and dimension. You're the last line of defense against a bad part.
- Process Pro: Validate the stability of the process through dimensional checks and adjustments, working closely with Operators.
- Tooling Expert: Pull, prep, and make minor repairs to tooling and equipment as needed during the set-up of equipment. We're looking for someone with mechanical aptitude who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty and learn the nuances of our equipment.
- Paperwork Power: Complete all necessary production documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Mentorship: Support the training and development operators.
- Team Player: Step in to perform Line Operator duties as needed—you’re flexible and ready to support.
- Housekeeping Hero: Maintain a clean, organized work area, adhering to our daily housekeeping and 5S standards.
Requirements:
What You'll Need (Qualifications & Requirements):
- High School Diploma, GED, OR a minimum of 1 year in a manufacturing environment (we appreciate real-world experience).
- Extrusion experience is a definite plus (tell us about it!).
Key Strengths Required:
- Basic Math, Blueprint Reading, and Computer Skills (no need to be a whiz, just competent).
- Strong communication and training skills—you'll be working with a team and documenting your work.
- Excellent Problem Solving/Troubleshooting skills—because the line doesn't always cooperate.
- Good Planning and Organizational Skills—staying ahead of the curve is key.
Experience We’d Prefer (But Can Train You On):
- Experience with manufacturing/quality tools (calipers, comparator, measuring cup, etc.).
- Working knowledge of Extrusion equipment (extruders, pullers/cutters, conveyors, etc.).
- Familiarity with 5S/Lean Manufacturing/Kanban.
The Fine Print (Physical Demands):
- You must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- The job requires standing on hard surfaces for up to 8 hours.
- Safety is non-negotiable: safety glasses, hearing protection, and closed-toe shoes are required on the production floor.
