Travel RN – Emergency Department (ER Float Pool) | Zone 1 – Colorado Springs, COPosition Overview

Join a regional Emergency Department Float Pool serving multiple hospitals throughout Zone 1 (Colorado Springs region). Travelers must be comfortable floating between facilities within a 60-mile radius based on staffing needs.

Float Requirements

Travelers are responsible for securing housing that allows travel throughout the entire zone.

Shift & Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts
  • Leadership creates schedules based on department needs
  • Every other weekend required
  • Every other holiday required
  • No call

Orientation

  • 2–3 days
  • Clinicians must be physically in Colorado during orientation week, even if initial modules are completed remotely.

RequirementsExperience

  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience

Required Certifications

  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • TNCC
  • NIHSS

Unit Information

  • Trauma Levels vary by facility (primarily Level III, one Level IV)
  • Majority are STEMI and Stroke Receiving Centers
  • Daily ED census varies from 40–168 patients
  • Patient Ratios: 1:4–5 depending on acuity

  • Trauma
  • Stroke
  • NSTEMI
  • Abdominal pain
  • Diabetes complications
  • Pneumonia
  • Hypertension
  • General emergency presentations

Skills Required

  • Strong emergency nursing experience
  • Ability to independently interpret telemetry rhythms
  • Comfortable caring for a broad spectrum of emergency patients
  • Point-of-care laboratory testing (training provided)

Unit Resources

  • RT available 24/7
  • ED techs assist with patient care, triage, and unit secretary duties
  • No monitor technicians—RNs must interpret telemetry independently

Dress Code

  • Navy Blue Scrubs
