Job Description EMS Communications Specialistwill be responsible for processing incoming patient transport requests and receiving all incoming phone calls in a timely manner; and is responsible for processing all condition codes, monitoring fire alarms, addressing security requests, and providing phone operator service during off hours..The ideal candidate will have a strong background with emergency medical services and great communication skills. EMT and/or Paramedic certification is strongly preferred.Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 1 year experience current or prior EMS Communications experience required
- Advanced proficiency using computers, general navigation, ability to learn new software
- Excellent communication skills are required
- Current EMT and/or Paramedic certification strongly preferred
Job Responsibilities:
- Efficiently schedule non-medically necessary transportation for eligible clients/consumers
- Plan and coordinate transportation via the appropriate mode in accordance with policies and procedures
- Receive emergency calls and process appropriately
- Provide exceptional customer service
- Receive and document medical command reports and notify the emergency department
- Monitor hospital alarm systems
- Coordinate medical command requests from paramedic to physician and document the request
- Process incoming calls
- Document all information in the cloud-based EMS Dispatch computer-aided system
- Efficiently process medically necessary patient transportation requests on a timely basis.
- Receive hospital condition codes and send out notification page per policy and procedure
- Perform hospital operator duties on the overnight shift
