As a Material Handler on the 1st Shift at New Flyer, you will be a key player in our manufacturing process, ensuring a seamless flow of materials to support production. Your responsibilities will include receiving, storing, and distributing materials to various departments, as well as maintaining an organized and efficient work area. A strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork is essential in this role.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Maintain a safe work environment; adhere to safety policies, procedures, and processes.
- Operate forklifts, walkie riders, and other material handling equipment to transport parts to the production floor.
- Set up and organize material storage racks, bins, and carts to prevent damage or loss of materials.
- Create and maintain drop areas for part deliveries and effectively manage inventory.
- Assist assembly workers by lifting and moving materials as needed on the production floor.
- Conduct accurate counts of materials and participate in cycle counts as directed.
- Report any issues with materials, including damaged or rejected parts, to the leadership team.
- Follow work direction from department leaders and contribute to team objectives.
Monday through Friday 6:30am to 3:00pm
Requirements
- Previous experience in material handling, warehouse, or shipping/receiving roles is essential.
- Forklift operation experience is required.
- Consistent work history with no job jumping.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Physical stamina to lift and move heavy items safely.
